The Armor of God
We have been studying the armor of God for several weeks at our Saturday morning Bible Study. We have taken each part of the armor and broken it down almost word by word. The armor of God is found in Ephesians 6:10-17. The pieces of the armor are: the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, feet shod with the gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. If you put on all the armor, you are protected from head to toe. However, verse 16 says, "Above all, taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the firey darts of the wicked." When I really read this verse, I felt as if the verse jumped off the page right into my heart. What really spoke to me was the word "all" as in ye shall be able to quench "all" the firey darts of the wicked. Friends, this is an amazing verse. As we put the shield of faith before us or as we crouch behind the shield of faith, we can quench ALL the firey darts of the enemy. This verse has been working in my spirit since that time. Jesus paid the price on Calvary so that we can lead a victorious life not just in heaven but in this life, too! One of the ways we have this life of victory is to put on the armor of God and to stand behind the shield of faith. For by doing this, we can come against and defeat satan, for the Word really does say we can quench each and every dart of the enemy. We, as Christians, are so blessed to have God's instruction to guide us, lead us and help us day by day. So, I would say, read the Word, walk hand in hand with the Lord, and be blessed my dear friends.

ReplyDeleteBlessed Lord Jesus, before your cross I kneel and see my iniquity that caused you to be made a curse' the evil that excites the severity of divine wrath.
ReplyDeleteShow mw the enormity of my guilt by the crown of thorns, the pierced hands and feet, the bruised body, the dying cries.
Your blood is the blood of incarnate God, its worth is infinite, its value beyond all thought. Infinite must be the evil and guilt that demands such a price.
Sin is my malady, my monster, my foe, my viper, born in my birth, alive in my life, strong in my charecter, dominating my faculties, following me as a shadow, intermingling with my every thought, my chain that holds me captive in the empire of my soul.
Sinner that I am, why should the sun give me light, the air supply my breath, the earth bear my footprints, its fruits nourish me, its creatures subservient to my needs ?
Yet your compassions yearn over me, your heart hastens to my rescue, your love endures my curse, your mercy bore my deserved stripes.
Let me walk humbly in the lowest depths of humiliation, bathed in your blood, tender of conscience, triumphing gloriously as an heir of salvation.
Thank you Rita ! Please continue to pray for for Me and for Matthew.
What a wonderful reminder Aunt Rita! At a men's retreat about a year ago, me and 4 other guys stayed up until 3:00 in the morning studying, praying, and "putting on" the armor of God. I'm glad your group is slowly digesting these powerful verses!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your comments! Anonymous, I am praying for you and will continue. Blessings to you, my sweet friends!
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading "The Way of the Master" by Ray Comfort. This book details a proven and effective way of making the gospel understandable and senseable to the unsaved.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great read...It is going to help me to share my faith simply, effectively. and biblically, just the way Jesus did.
Don't leave me trusting in my own strength. When I stray and find myself alone and separated from you, I cannot think properly, I cannot reason, judge or assess the truth. Left to my own designs I am broken and useless. Keep me "always" in the shadow of your wings. Remove my self-sufficiency. Fill me with your spirit and cover me with devine revelation. Counsel me, and hold me together by the power of your word. Only then will I be complete and whole...adequate to do your work. 2 Corinthians 3: 5
